Facial Toner DIY

Updated: Mar 31, 2023

I have struggled with my complexion since I was 12 years old. I can't believe at 40 I'm still saying that! *BIG sigh*

I've tried everything over the years to deal with the cause of it, but in the end, my pregnancies confirmed what I had suspected - for me, my complexion woes are due to hormone imbalance. This was a little rock added to my mountain of rocks which inspires me more and more to seek out natural alternatives to products which often contain hormone disrupting ingredients (read here: so many skin care products... people, there's even teflon and formaldehyde in some!!!).

One product I love is a toner to spritz on my face. This helps remove any last traces of dirt and impurities stuck in the pores after washing. Here is a simple, natural and inexpensive DIY facial toner that can be made in just a minute or two!

Facial Toner Recipe

In a 125ml (4oz) glass spray bottle:

  1. Fill half full (1/4 cup) with witch hazel

  2. Add 5 drops of tea tree essential oil

  3. Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil

  4. Fill to the top (1/4 cup) with water (distilled, bottled or boiled & cooled)

To use, give it a shake and spritz onto your face after washing.

We love this toner in our home. If it runs out and I don't get around to refilling it for a while, I can definitely see a change in my complexion. I like to follow this up with a little virgin coconut or jojoba oil as a simple moisturizer (read more about that here) and I'm all set!

(As always, other than links to my own products, the links included in this post will bring you to more information, not where to buy a product.)
